Expanding Access to Addiction Treatment Through Online Care

Addiction treatment should be accessible, consistent, and grounded in evidence-based care. Online addiction treatment helps remove common barriers that prevent individuals from staying engaged in recovery, especially in rural communities or areas where treatment options may be limited.

Spero Health’s telehealth services are designed to support stability, accountability, and ongoing connection to care. Online treatment is not a shortcut—it is a structured extension of our broader addiction treatment model.

How Online Addiction Treatment Works

Online addiction treatment uses secure, confidential telehealth technology to connect patients with licensed medical providers and recovery-focused care teams.

Treatment through telehealth may include:

  • Virtual medical appointments

  • Ongoing treatment planning and clinical monitoring

  • Behavioral health counseling

  • Recovery support and care management

Each individual is evaluated to determine whether online treatment is clinically appropriate and aligned with their recovery needs and goals.

Substance Use Disorders Supported Through Telehealth Treatment

Online addiction treatment may support individuals experiencing substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder and addiction to stimulants. Care is structured to promote stabilization, reduce harm, and encourage long-term engagement in recovery.

Treatment focuses on both physical and emotional well-being as part of a whole-person approach to recovery.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Through Telehealth

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that combines medication with ongoing medical oversight and recovery support.

Through online care, MAT may include the use of medications such as Suboxone when clinically appropriate. These medications help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, allowing individuals to focus on recovery, counseling, and rebuilding daily routines.

Medication is never provided in isolation. At Spero Health, MAT is one part of a structured, recovery-focused treatment approach.

  • Live in rural or underserved areas

Our team works closely with each patient to determine whether telehealth services are appropriate and to guide them toward the right level of care.

What can I Expect with Online Addiction Treatment in Memphis?

  • A Spero Health Patient Care Representative will determine your eligibility for online addiction treatment services and will work with you to schedule your first appointment.

  • A Spero Health Patient Care Representative will send you all the information you need to connect with your provider or counselor which will include website links and meetings codes  for your first visit. If using a computer, you will need an application that can do video conferencing and has a web camera installed. For best results, we recommend a high-speed internet connection and Google Chrome for your web browser.

  • At the time of your appointment, make sure you are in a comfortable and private area — a quiet place to avoid background noise. Click on the meeting link given to you by a Patient Care Representative and you will be greeted by a Spero Health team member who will collect some information from you and connect you to your provider.

  • Once your appointment is over, you will be required to stop by the nearest clinic within 48 hours to provide a urine sample and pick up a new home test kit for follow-up visits. Your Patient Care Representative will walk you through this process.
