According to the latest data by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 81,000 people died due to drug overdoses in the 12 months from May 2019 through May 2020 – the largest number of overdose deaths recorded in a single year. Kentucky reported a 22% spike in deaths.
Boyd County in recent years has been 3rd in the state for highest rate of drug overdose deaths which played a role in Spero Health’s decision to open there.
