JEFFERSONVILLE — A Tennessee-based healthcare company has opened an outpatient addiction treatment facility in Jeffersonville.
Spero Health expanded its integrated care recovery and medical services with the launch of the company’s 22nd clinic, according to a news release. The company’s Jeffersonville clinic, located at 1820 East 10th St., opened Feb. 4.
Spero Health’s approach combines physical and behavioral healthcare services under one roof. This approach includes physician office visits, behavioral health counseling, recovery support services and patient and family education. Spero Health provides care for more than 5,300 people throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
“The numbers of individuals who die as a result of suffering from substance use disorders every year continues to worsen, and it is critical that our communities have access to local, high-quality care,” CEO Steve Priest said in the release. “Our team is not only focused on saving lives, but also on helping strengthen the communities that we serve. It is our desire to be an active member of the local healthcare community and a partner in the fight against this deadly disease.”
In the last decade more than 650,000 people have died from a drug overdose, according to the news release. Additionally, 70 percent of the more than 70,000 drug-overdose deaths in 2017 involved an opioid, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
“Our approach is designed to provide rapid access to care and allow individuals to remain in their communities throughout treatment so they can continue working and caring for their families, which ultimately enhances their quality of life,” VP of Clinical Services David Hayden said in the release.
Spero Health participates with Indiana Medicaid and is currently accepting new patients from select commercial insurance plans.
